About this website

Hello, welcome to my website.

This website is not meant to sell anything. It was created by me as an outlet, diary and place to share interesting or obscure things that I encounter throughout my stay here on earth. It is also an exercise in design and discipline as well as sorting and organizing my thoughts. As of writing this, I'm not sure if this website will ever be released to the public or even which language it would be in.
Nevertheless, learning a bit of HTML for this and forming the design was a fun start to this project. I expect that I will make small and big changes to every aspect of this website as long as I maintain it.

The name The Quantum Butterfly originates from the quantum weather butterfly from the Discworld novels by Terry Pratchett. The idea goes back further than that though, to a Gedankenexperiment by Edward Lorenz. In essence, some systems are highly sensitive to small changes in their initial conditions. Lorenz noted that a butterfly flapping it's wings at the exact right moment and location could dramatically affect the weather elsewhere. There are other such delicate systems, like a snow-topped mountain which is subject to sudden avalanches, or even History. Think about the consequences of Albert Einstein dying of sudden infant death at 3 month age or of Adolf Hitler not surviving every single one of the over 40 assassination attempts directed at him. But I digress - did you know that Lorenz initially used a seagull for this metaphor but was convinced to use a butterfly to make it more poetic?
